While making small projects is lots of fun and very satisfying, BIG projects are my passion.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I started working on Flowerville, a stitchery quilt by Rosalie Dekker Designs, in January 2016...I always like to have a big stitchery quilt on the go, and after finishing her two previous quilts (Scandinavian Rose and United Stitches) I was keen to start another one.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQrwXRaHrMD9NPhtC0HFk2gQjNkyQnsqUtU1obRI_39zQiSXvUAAt9vRu2pI4di4t3IKYi1tyO06qz9B-CMDRvrccGKc8DxZYsy4xAJSdyQLIiPXhXmvt_mtyBTpJ2hh48VXbEmggM6g/s1600/IMG_0173.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQrwXRaHrMD9NPhtC0HFk2gQjNkyQnsqUtU1obRI_39zQiSXvUAAt9vRu2pI4di4t3IKYi1tyO06qz9B-CMDRvrccGKc8DxZYsy4xAJSdyQLIiPXhXmvt_mtyBTpJ2hh48VXbEmggM6g/s320/IMG_0173.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It took me a little while to decide on the colour scheme for this one. Rosalie's original quilt was made in Tilda fabrics, and (believe it or not) I wasn't a fan of the fabrics at all. Obviously my Tilda obsession hadn't kicked in back then :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I finally settled on a fabric range called Rosewater by Verna Mosquera, and matched up the colours with Cottage Garden Threads...my first time using these variegated threads which has proven to be another costly addiction!<br />

Dresdens were a technique that I'd always loved but were too afraid to try, but I'm so glad I did! They aren't nearly as scary as they look, and I have plans for lots more in my future :)</div>

<br />
I quilted this one myself, as I wanted to keep it very simple so that the embroidered work remained a feature of the quilt....and it was small enough to handle on my domestic sewing machine.<br />

Binding is never one of my favourite parts of the quiltmaking process, so I made sure I didn't drag it out too long. This striped fabric from Daysail by Bonnie and Camille proved to be a perfect colour match...the benefit of having a nice big stash of fabric to choose from!<br />

Label is by Tilda. I keep a quilt journal, so no longer feel the need to write all of the details of each quilt on the actual quilt.<br />

Do you ever have days when you just can't settle on a project to work on?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsc9rGq8V5DaS21e7_yJsEmShU6RFGKOIeeOPUsTmSxoIiDy0AOyFRd8mXSM1HSNXrmcX-HVA2Q14ewEBuYZk2xfNVq89czT4Z4iYB74do9nWTS8Drwf90hZXNoyFjUQKXxyDs8SI96g/s1600/IMG_9286.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsc9rGq8V5DaS21e7_yJsEmShU6RFGKOIeeOPUsTmSxoIiDy0AOyFRd8mXSM1HSNXrmcX-HVA2Q14ewEBuYZk2xfNVq89czT4Z4iYB74do9nWTS8Drwf90hZXNoyFjUQKXxyDs8SI96g/s320/IMG_9286.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It seems to be the story of my life at the moment. I have lots of projects on the go (even for me!) and lately I just can't seem to settle in and work on anything...and it's very frustrating!<br />
<br />
When the postie turned up this morning with this lovely new book written by my friend Jemima from Tied With A Ribbon, I thought I'd post a photo on instagram to show her that I'd received it, and congratulate her on such a wonderful achievement. (it's a lovely book....a must for your crafty bookshelf) I pulled a quilt from my quilt ladder to use as a background....photo taken, posted, and then...nothing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWn_TpVvYswUhfMvILScA18I8QjzjBBHlb8ki3ciOs2QMzghuHrYhFFSIUxgllZ7P2VVylXuB187bInTdMaF8tzwNO3P8ZgstxU5svsMcL5awFlhWqlggnwbmmKc8lbn6avkWoLNMpJw/s1600/IMG_0653.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWn_TpVvYswUhfMvILScA18I8QjzjBBHlb8ki3ciOs2QMzghuHrYhFFSIUxgllZ7P2VVylXuB187bInTdMaF8tzwNO3P8ZgstxU5svsMcL5awFlhWqlggnwbmmKc8lbn6avkWoLNMpJw/s320/IMG_0653.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Well, to be honest, not exactly nothing. Lots of wandering around, pulling out projects, umming and ahhing over what to work on. Ridiculous really.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP3mJLEkeBE0NE6nR1_b80gBzlz8PF7pABayNfYEoysX7u6Y_tHZ0M2t45GVXQAQ9bn7hdwAu9d66uUEwpv4tRBKtkffeHcIjsm8bZIxKMPNCtq-en48wM3JBlCv-qO5DK_Bp2Sjdphg/s1600/IMG_0655.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP3mJLEkeBE0NE6nR1_b80gBzlz8PF7pABayNfYEoysX7u6Y_tHZ0M2t45GVXQAQ9bn7hdwAu9d66uUEwpv4tRBKtkffeHcIjsm8bZIxKMPNCtq-en48wM3JBlCv-qO5DK_Bp2Sjdphg/s320/IMG_0655.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I was nearly ready to resign myself to an afternoon of netflix and dog snuggling when I looked again at that quilt from the quilt ladder, and realised I STILL hadn't attached binding to it. Oh the shame!! It arrived back from the quilters late last year, and I promptly hung it on my ladder (with edges folded under lol) and forgot about it.<br />
<br />
So I invented a new game...I'm calling it "Closest to the Finish Line". If I'm wandering around, stuck in a rut, overwhelmed by the number of projects I have yet to complete, I have to pull out the project in my stash that requires the least amount of work to finish it, and JUST GO FOR IT!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7zNKHfVykWN5PGDQKoVwLhS-nRrRYcsKLwnXAxpOSorcPVBfF32kgCzgsb5_tEWM7wYACtXHCOe-Yqr4ITIfdBfInOIdT_6kDhY-E5QdQyVkKH_hquhxhiZ3mxVIkNUGfHraYmyUdhQ/s1600/IMG_0656.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7zNKHfVykWN5PGDQKoVwLhS-nRrRYcsKLwnXAxpOSorcPVBfF32kgCzgsb5_tEWM7wYACtXHCOe-Yqr4ITIfdBfInOIdT_6kDhY-E5QdQyVkKH_hquhxhiZ3mxVIkNUGfHraYmyUdhQ/s320/IMG_0656.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Even if it is the worst part of quiltmaking....sewing down binding. BLEH!<br />
<br />
Hopefully I'll avoid playing this game too often, since my next few "closest to the finish line" projects also include binding. There's a definite trend there.<br />

<br />
I had managed to stitch and stuff a few of the body parts over the course<br />
of that weekend, but that's where my poor fox was left...unfinished and<br />
looking rather disjointed!<br />
<br />
A few hours of hand blanket-stitching, and he was looking MUCH more handsome.<br />
<br />

<br />
This is a totally hand sewn project, and was such fun to watch come to life!<br />
Now my fox is happily sitting in my craft space, I'm thinking I may just pull<br />
out some of the other kits I bought that weekend...the pig and giraffe are exceptionally cute!<br />
<br />
While on the subject of foxes, I thought I'd share my next instalment of<br />
Foxley Village...Part 7.<br />

<br />
Only two more blocks to go on this one! The quilt top is a really nice size<br />
now, so it's tempting to just get in and finish it off (if only I didn't have so<br />
many other projects on the go!)<br />

I've set myself a May deadline on this quilt which may be pushing it a bit?<br />
I'd better get stitching!<br />

Thanks for popping in to visit...and have a lovely weekend! ITS FRIDAY!<br />

I've added some more polka dot backgrounds, and stuck with the Little Ruby prints by Bonnie and Camille for now....although I can't guarantee that this will always be the case :)<br />

<br />
Most of all, I'm loving the simplicity of the blocks. They are very achievable and don't take a big chunk of time.... Saturday nights when there's not much on seem to be my perfect time to pull out the fabrics and at least choose what I'm going to use.<br />
<br />
My lovely local quilt shop have ordered me in some of the elusive pink that I'm using for the borders, so I should be all set! It's called Betty's Pink from the Bella Solids range...it matches beautifully with Little Ruby.<br />
<br />
Are you joining in the QAL? Please leave me a comment so I can check out your blocks! If you're on instagram, my username is suzitee1 😀<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one has been in production since way before Christmas, and was intended as a Christmas gift for a very special friend of mine (oops!) Luckily, she is the kind of friend who saw the humour in recieving a cushion top , half stitched and held together with safety pins on Christmas Eve.</div>

<br />
The stitchery design is by Rosalie Dekker Designs, and is stitched with Cottage Garden Thread 1301 Rosalie, which quite possibly is my favourite of all CGTs.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The background was created by piecing lots of 2.5 inch squares in random order, backing that piece with some wadding, then quilting a smidge on either side of the joining seams. It's a simple technique but gives the cushion a gorgeous cuddly feel.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used a dinner plate slightly bigger than the design to create a cardboard template. I then cut the stitchery roughly in a slightly bigger circle, gathered around the outside of the fabric and placed it over the template. If you pull the bobbin threads firmly but carefully, your stitchery will form a neat circle over the cardboard.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI2U3DKTRIcEkKIaCyMRIZogn0hIOJFA5OHNCtG2o4ywbdhWQMWlpHWkULpN_q_sjHgfpHjcl5WxXm3ElfZJaoetf2C-5EH_0_okqKjVqziWifFybr75oigyQnoW-wvEWBZXBjNPIkzQ/s1600/IMG_0088.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI2U3DKTRIcEkKIaCyMRIZogn0hIOJFA5OHNCtG2o4ywbdhWQMWlpHWkULpN_q_sjHgfpHjcl5WxXm3ElfZJaoetf2C-5EH_0_okqKjVqziWifFybr75oigyQnoW-wvEWBZXBjNPIkzQ/s320/IMG_0088.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I iron the stitchery then remove the cardboard....this leaves you with a nice round circle, which you pin then stitch onto your prepared background. I always machine stitch :)<br />
<br />

Perhaps I should start making Christmas gifts a little earlier this year?<br />

Last year, I made her a simple quilt for the end of her bed. On an expedition<br />

<span style="font-size: 17.82px;">and </span><span style="font-size: 17.82px;">loved it!</span><br />

Anyhoo...this year I really struggled with what to gift her. She loves anything handmade, and she also loves nothing more than to snuggle with a good<br />
book under her quilt, so I decided to create a reading nook in her bedroom.<br />
The idea was to drape her quilt over the back of a really comfy chair next to<br />
her window, cover it with cushions and also provide some extra light for those<br />
late night reading sessions.<br />
<br />

<br />
I set about making her a cushion using the quilt offcuts :) I've been making<br />
<span style="font-size: 17.82px;">lots of Dresdens lately, so this was an obvious choice for my cushion design.</span><br />
I was a bit stuck for what to use in the centre...I was leaning towards a stitchery or a monogram, but finally settled on a fox. She adores foxes, and<br />
has several plush versions of them sitting around her room.<br />

<br />
I resized one of the foxes from my Foxley Village quilt, blanket stitched it in<br />
place using the vliseofix method, and chain stitched a double border with<br />
co-ordinating colours.<br />

While she was at school, I cleaned and rearranged her bedroom to<br />
accomodate her new furniture.<br />
<br />
That was last week, and I always know where to find her now :) snuggled<br />
in her chair doing her homework on her laptop, or reading quietly in her<br />
reading nook.<br />

<br />
From the very first time I saw the amazing book by Atsuko Matsuyama several years ago I was in love with the pink quilt on the front cover...SO much pretty! However, the book was printed in Japanese and I really didn't think my quilting skills could extend to understanding instructions in another language!<br />
<br />
The English version was printed in 2016, and I managed to get my hands on a copy earlier this year...yay! I wasn't actually planning on making anything until I saw that hashtag, and all of a sudden my head was swirling with ideas.<br />
<br />
One (very late) night last weekend, my heart settled on my Bonnie and Camille fabric stash, in particular my Little Ruby fat quarter bundle. How perfect would all those tiny prints be?<br />

I'm hoping to keep up with the group's goal of two blocks per week, but if not I'll be happy with however far I get. Just making pretty little 6 inch blocks is enough to give me joy :)<br />
<i>(speaking of 6 inch blocks, I must remember to show you my Splendid Sampler blocks....oh and my Farmers Wife blocks...and my Farm Girl Vintage blocks....there's a trend there!)</i><br />

Have a happy day!<br />

It seems I'm not the only person obsessed with Tilda....in fact, there's a whole community of people worldwide who love anything and everything created by Tone Finnegar and her team at Tilda. Who knew? 😀</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can imagine my joy when I discovered that there's even a Tilda Club! It's a bi-monthly subscription, and you receive a pack FULL of Tilda goodness. I receive mine through my local quilt shop, Care2Create in Woodvale, WA....a must-visit if you're ever in the area.</div>

I signed up immediately, and received my first pack late last year. It contained some pins, fabrics, and a pattern to make a tablerunner....such pretty colours!<br />

<br />
The top was finished at a retreat I attended in December, but I pulled it out recently and finished it off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlZjLDH0Ud0NwHxhl_W8m6DK1u3r58bKCE-7jDfF8c9bwkCID7oNG4gzVVb_ok62ntLF8uM4ChzuXIk1abYQLNiWhMgNyIo_h8s3weDDihvIGKZyVLZxlxIYWvyO89JUVwqw9pjh4TQw/s1600/IMG_0062.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlZjLDH0Ud0NwHxhl_W8m6DK1u3r58bKCE-7jDfF8c9bwkCID7oNG4gzVVb_ok62ntLF8uM4ChzuXIk1abYQLNiWhMgNyIo_h8s3weDDihvIGKZyVLZxlxIYWvyO89JUVwqw9pjh4TQw/s320/IMG_0062.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I kept the quilting simple...just echoed around the main shapes and along the pink lengthwise strips. It's even reversible!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1GSJBSeZnr-n6z_6I2hJj3GZl54pWmV9sO9y2QaaJ4lHAPe58vMyWw7qYbvqTiADBrsBWv_Ridi0W_7yrn6jVFDd7A8bNutpQvsIJ5YpiPJ23TSGaBOHX3E9Lw5BO60hlHQgmw37bRA/s1600/IMG_0001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1GSJBSeZnr-n6z_6I2hJj3GZl54pWmV9sO9y2QaaJ4lHAPe58vMyWw7qYbvqTiADBrsBWv_Ridi0W_7yrn6jVFDd7A8bNutpQvsIJ5YpiPJ23TSGaBOHX3E9Lw5BO60hlHQgmw37bRA/s320/IMG_0001.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
The binding, of course, was my least favourite part of the whole process, but being so small, was knocked over in no time.<br />

The February edition has just landed at my house, and contains some gorgeous buttons, and a pattern for a lovely cushion using the new range, Bumblebee.<br />

The internet is full of great FREE patterns. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In fact, you could almost type in any article that you'd like to make, and you'll probably find a freebie (and possibly a YouTube video) showing you how to make it :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3S2oTMyoiEIRWJ9P1j7xixj8qC-BsFn-EcxZDjWKgdeAgLFT4zqc8Z909G_tQZcniq2iAG82_dGXN3WssscPHFgSK14LyVBGh5z6mMBJ7whlMy66NxfduH7jdpA2lSna8Rnt7cg1AwQ/s1600/IMG_9956.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="275" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3S2oTMyoiEIRWJ9P1j7xixj8qC-BsFn-EcxZDjWKgdeAgLFT4zqc8Z909G_tQZcniq2iAG82_dGXN3WssscPHFgSK14LyVBGh5z6mMBJ7whlMy66NxfduH7jdpA2lSna8Rnt7cg1AwQ/s320/IMG_9956.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The <a href="http://www.tildasworld.com/">Tilda website</a> is one of my favourites....<i>not surprisingly 😉 </i> Not only does it have the latest Tilda catalogue to swoon over, but there are lots of free patterns for quilts, soft toys, and other bits and pieces. Well worth a look!<br />
<br />
This precious little bunny is a free pattern, and was quite a simple (but very fiddly) little project to make. Yes, she is sitting inside an <i>actual</i> eggshell inside an <i>actual </i>eggcup.<br />
<br />
My plan was to make several to give away as small gifts at Easter, but after making just two of those teeny, tiny ears I will definitely be re-thinking that!<br />

Another finish for my Year of Small Projects, and the first for #2017sewingbookchallenge...YAY!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_TD7brrADOxPxfoBfSv5LeTEV8ihs0G5_srv-e8Bx-b4eFSl5um8-cDCAyavnsYN2G4VdskClyG2F7ljJs4YTnUCt55JpqsN8ZK2ZgT9nGB3lAEKJA_MyLmN5E9tPOBCUZIm0s9JMmw/s1600/IMG_9910.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="307" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_TD7brrADOxPxfoBfSv5LeTEV8ihs0G5_srv-e8Bx-b4eFSl5um8-cDCAyavnsYN2G4VdskClyG2F7ljJs4YTnUCt55JpqsN8ZK2ZgT9nGB3lAEKJA_MyLmN5E9tPOBCUZIm0s9JMmw/s320/IMG_9910.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As I outlined before, the idea behind the challenge is to make things from your craft books, instead of just collecting them (oops...guilty!) I chose a Tilda book (since that is my current obsession) but totally balked at actually cutting Tilda fabric for a small project...it's so precious!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The cushion matches a single bed quilt, but I wasn't feeling quite that adventurous.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As it happened, it turned out to be more the size of a European pillow than a cushion! The fabric is Pixie Noel by Tasha Noel, and it was very VERY hard restraining myself to only red and green. The navy and aqua prints are just gorgeous.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5njlbeT43iQiXpwvJhS7SPJ-0nQA3pAVhzqv_8wOwVUJis3uFtX9wlOSSm1JmQl56TsCPcCJvoNe_6lEPEy9spnXzj91C3czkB7CJoSTn08-QsWE9TbOi5bYW6veMQf2fk8M7l8WQxA/s1600/IMG_9924.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5njlbeT43iQiXpwvJhS7SPJ-0nQA3pAVhzqv_8wOwVUJis3uFtX9wlOSSm1JmQl56TsCPcCJvoNe_6lEPEy9spnXzj91C3czkB7CJoSTn08-QsWE9TbOi5bYW6veMQf2fk8M7l8WQxA/s320/IMG_9924.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I find Tilda instructions a bit tricky to follow, and there wasn't much in the way of finishing instructions, so I just winged it. I made some striped piping out of the co-ordinating red/green stripe, which finished it off nicely....reminds me of candy canes :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinQjoqXxySuofOmOt47fU8-sANB4p909B1-WDDk6ypH3mQEKGuhvBRiFhdyLUWJH6VdmOtjUn4jicOq5EUON7bEQQ-tLceJ_wJbYZotxujldFN5wSEDx-yipbxgQcX6iY5tovhmLijgQ/s1600/IMG_9926.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinQjoqXxySuofOmOt47fU8-sANB4p909B1-WDDk6ypH3mQEKGuhvBRiFhdyLUWJH6VdmOtjUn4jicOq5EUON7bEQQ-tLceJ_wJbYZotxujldFN5wSEDx-yipbxgQcX6iY5tovhmLijgQ/s320/IMG_9926.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I possibly made it more time-consuming than it needed to be by layering and quilting the cushion top, but the texture was totally worth it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The characters in this fabric are way too cute! If you look carefully at the finished cushion, you'll see I've also fussy cut lots of little kissing rabbits for the small green squares :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's going to be hard putting this one away until next Christmas....but that's what you get when you make Christmas projects so early in the year I guess!<br />

Tilda fabrics by Tone Finnegar became my obsession at around this time last year 😀</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Prior to the release of the Pardon My Garden and Spring Diaries collections, I only had a passing interest in the fabrics...I liked them, but not enough to buy more than a random fat quarter here and there. As soon as I saw the new collections, though, I was hooked!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIQhag9SjOXFH4fhnJG8mbbeV5p_XnKdP5De6sD63h4HLAltAS_EIIQd1OhS1h501OJknW1pMKa_ZoNPVZK3uQpLIjOFCwb9-rYtSquUy6DsAa7eN42OAl1qOSllc-DMqeznqVvJEitg/s1600/IMG_8331.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIQhag9SjOXFH4fhnJG8mbbeV5p_XnKdP5De6sD63h4HLAltAS_EIIQd1OhS1h501OJknW1pMKa_ZoNPVZK3uQpLIjOFCwb9-rYtSquUy6DsAa7eN42OAl1qOSllc-DMqeznqVvJEitg/s320/IMG_8331.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Candy pink, turquoise, oranges and greens, all in the most delicious little prints...I couldn't resist!<br />
Unlike most fabric that I buy, I felt the need to cut into it immediately. This was about the time that the Homespun magazine Block Of the Month was released...Foxley Village by Natalie Bird. Her version was made in two previous Tilda ranges, but the oranges in Spring Diaries were all kinds of perfect for a quilt with a fox as the focal point!<br />
<br />
I didn't need much convincing to bite into yet another BIG project.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLYVVhVeaz2As5VPJNktg7dzmfs2oNw1RdfCVDsJ2AqKiOf7_AwHMUJ9xsmvLpbJUEdYsWXMnEBVvhwklKjPZCOfRsybmJxU5JwefeuBubad-ju2bWV93Z-bmqpNmfcF_qHFvBhhnwvw/s1600/IMG_8873.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLYVVhVeaz2As5VPJNktg7dzmfs2oNw1RdfCVDsJ2AqKiOf7_AwHMUJ9xsmvLpbJUEdYsWXMnEBVvhwklKjPZCOfRsybmJxU5JwefeuBubad-ju2bWV93Z-bmqpNmfcF_qHFvBhhnwvw/s320/IMG_8873.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Totally in love with the large scale blue floral... I featured it in Block One.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9v6yrRJ83d8p3lG03GlqK06ZYOgfGo5gau0N3-BMBYx7AR8YUs21zODAIoNaN9qt8OuqtRHhlo81L-QqjSdBuWhBUnTiPnrTYc23mbDXI0Q4PgA3X9LyAzp1HsDuYJcl2_XoeAVLy7A/s1600/IMG_8875.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9v6yrRJ83d8p3lG03GlqK06ZYOgfGo5gau0N3-BMBYx7AR8YUs21zODAIoNaN9qt8OuqtRHhlo81L-QqjSdBuWhBUnTiPnrTYc23mbDXI0Q4PgA3X9LyAzp1HsDuYJcl2_XoeAVLy7A/s320/IMG_8875.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Block Two saw the first appearance of the adorable fox, sitting on top of the Tea Shoppe...WAY TOO CUTE!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmJPMBcjseKvhvf7aIZSnkVxJqCdZhwhb4WohWOmPiqyB-duyc4xfIr9bO12b_nL3IH56qYALQMsXdcIT_3eAguFnlIPGSXa3TMYxUZKRFMoCR1yzAsXboriCYmwQZlPH1DqIZQZ24-Q/s1600/IMG_8886.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmJPMBcjseKvhvf7aIZSnkVxJqCdZhwhb4WohWOmPiqyB-duyc4xfIr9bO12b_nL3IH56qYALQMsXdcIT_3eAguFnlIPGSXa3TMYxUZKRFMoCR1yzAsXboriCYmwQZlPH1DqIZQZ24-Q/s320/IMG_8886.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
After auditioning a few different colours for the cat, I went with black polkadots (SURPRISE!) A project of mine is just not complete without polkadots :) and he stands out quite well amongst all those busy florals.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDdcSVD98enjqVc2gPnFnYdLjBqaOO2SqcwDz_ZxbKnBd_8_JsD_wO78fFE1W6I88tWsTZbcXljdw31y_ZqUu77OBvUD60PlSj70hDvA8AL4QFjWdbNhxn4PJqZL4vhFMfOylMWrpsdQ/s1600/IMG_9293.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDdcSVD98enjqVc2gPnFnYdLjBqaOO2SqcwDz_ZxbKnBd_8_JsD_wO78fFE1W6I88tWsTZbcXljdw31y_ZqUu77OBvUD60PlSj70hDvA8AL4QFjWdbNhxn4PJqZL4vhFMfOylMWrpsdQ/s320/IMG_9293.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Block Three took a little longer...satin stitch is a bit more time consuming, but well worth the effort.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihxjH7fjkOEBWTablSD0lNX4vO7J4TdNron6civ9kafRWies4w7pIDNdTRaRS9tfc0PUAcaeY_aT4BJjUrVXLa-72h4F0JYrd0O19vORQA85v_3qMIw2Vgs9xz6OTFjR4ZeuWE92sMew/s1600/IMG_9317.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihxjH7fjkOEBWTablSD0lNX4vO7J4TdNron6civ9kafRWies4w7pIDNdTRaRS9tfc0PUAcaeY_aT4BJjUrVXLa-72h4F0JYrd0O19vORQA85v_3qMIw2Vgs9xz6OTFjR4ZeuWE92sMew/s320/IMG_9317.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The middle block (Block Four) is one that I played with quite a bit before settling on the final colours...it's the centre of the quilt, and really needed to pull all the colours together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoZjm7uHysGGKrl-kUMzJb3sWZuIuqWqlCbFtbyHbX3Sri-TywNxfgCINZhFjawyCh6lRrl3My1t3Z1Cn6BUjr3afCbPCoekiUwwxgpXDNg6sSA2uCCr1fvYqfEUKBzQ2eXvLajfo4_A/s1600/IMG_9715.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoZjm7uHysGGKrl-kUMzJb3sWZuIuqWqlCbFtbyHbX3Sri-TywNxfgCINZhFjawyCh6lRrl3My1t3Z1Cn6BUjr3afCbPCoekiUwwxgpXDNg6sSA2uCCr1fvYqfEUKBzQ2eXvLajfo4_A/s320/IMG_9715.JPG" width="256" /></a></div>
<br />
Right now I'm putting a few finishing touches to Block Five, and have cut out Block Six ready for stitching and assembling.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-Rp5yFL-m0a5MijXCmEj7Ao6Q4USTSbgcjiHsgOh3EhSksvlzuNPZN49sUDMOzwyAcaVXmdBco-czmZyXe6czn-4Eh5GuBfUReNGhhvsZDI2bAkNnLSaK0ikfWtrAEyouMKmJU4Tw7w/s1600/IMG_9779.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-Rp5yFL-m0a5MijXCmEj7Ao6Q4USTSbgcjiHsgOh3EhSksvlzuNPZN49sUDMOzwyAcaVXmdBco-czmZyXe6czn-4Eh5GuBfUReNGhhvsZDI2bAkNnLSaK0ikfWtrAEyouMKmJU4Tw7w/s320/IMG_9779.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Only ten parts to the whole quilt, so I'm really hoping to see a finish on this one in the next couple of months....unless I get distracted with all the other projects I have in progress ;)<br />
<br />
<i>Are you working on Foxley Village too? I'd love to see what you're up to, especially if you've finished!</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
Have a great day<br />

I am a lover of BIG projects. The bigger the better, usually.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If a project runs over several months (block-of-the-months are so much fun!), or over a year or more (love me a good stitch-a-long!), then chances are I'm already signed up and smack-bang in the middle of it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The only problem really, is that it's quite rare for me to actually finish anything. I have lots and lots of projects on the go, but that wonderful feeling of completion is elusive.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until recently....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9bIoQ5z2uMTGsD-TYzTelh_t-sbSnE2aRW0z5JQx1-YkcM3Uljpxd6UFUEta4qQKEv1dKPuE_HZzDstaL8OAlVV9VrCxFcP9vUYaJ2oXY-_lJmMp1jTTBIzqcl6vlZUVEiLEge3jz6w/s1600/IMG_9496.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9bIoQ5z2uMTGsD-TYzTelh_t-sbSnE2aRW0z5JQx1-YkcM3Uljpxd6UFUEta4qQKEv1dKPuE_HZzDstaL8OAlVV9VrCxFcP9vUYaJ2oXY-_lJmMp1jTTBIzqcl6vlZUVEiLEge3jz6w/s320/IMG_9496.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
....just before last Christmas, actually, when I decided to stitch up a cushion each for two of my dearest friends. I had been working on the stitchery for about 6 months, using a beautiful Cottage Garden Thread stitched on a Rosalie Dekker stitchery design.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxLqUfa5lDrbBkwboYjYVJVVFucTjqsOcK1JZrNL40i-8AGiW-nlWyiWntsb3j-CXF9YXQBYzLYf6FNJvvM4oNWvYIsMLUfskf0GgSyq7cBRxxg03_okhkgNhyxqNjLZ_z8Y6jb8o93Q/s1600/IMG_9497.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxLqUfa5lDrbBkwboYjYVJVVFucTjqsOcK1JZrNL40i-8AGiW-nlWyiWntsb3j-CXF9YXQBYzLYf6FNJvvM4oNWvYIsMLUfskf0GgSyq7cBRxxg03_okhkgNhyxqNjLZ_z8Y6jb8o93Q/s320/IMG_9497.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I pieced and quilted a background from Lucy's Crab Shack fabric by Sweetwater, and attached the circular design by machine (it always feels so much sturdier than hand stitching).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEierJkZwyzIY7Or_vtrIJyd_a8Zjcp_cOqhtf-w8W8LazkniRm-iTzmtZZ8UlUuxUN4RPKrJi03SdNgAAeSDsT7wY455HPzgpac1eN6vBDfeIBt_XRR_2zi5KyhSuQsX0g7yp0Z6p4b5w/s1600/IMG_9498.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEierJkZwyzIY7Or_vtrIJyd_a8Zjcp_cOqhtf-w8W8LazkniRm-iTzmtZZ8UlUuxUN4RPKrJi03SdNgAAeSDsT7wY455HPzgpac1eN6vBDfeIBt_XRR_2zi5KyhSuQsX0g7yp0Z6p4b5w/s320/IMG_9498.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The back panel feature is a few leftover fabric squares, with a hand-embroidered Tilda quilt label...I LOVE those labels!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The cushion turned out just as I had imagined in my head, and was so quick to put together! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My mojo was on fire (lol) so I pulled out another completed stitchery, and whipped up another Christmas cushion....OH MY GOODNESS!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4Hffv1_3UIrEEc7FJ5pA_MgbxLr-1LW1NcMMGw-U4y8-3PqZ8AN5ipQ-I9hIIPg-7z4gagL5hHjvaKiJ-9zn3TFOanWE1wAxz9AYDYMca6H3rPpSD8-MUC_AHGUOisex-eB2zAnvp1Q/s1600/IMG_9363.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4Hffv1_3UIrEEc7FJ5pA_MgbxLr-1LW1NcMMGw-U4y8-3PqZ8AN5ipQ-I9hIIPg-7z4gagL5hHjvaKiJ-9zn3TFOanWE1wAxz9AYDYMca6H3rPpSD8-MUC_AHGUOisex-eB2zAnvp1Q/s320/IMG_9363.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
That feeling of finishing something (and actually packing away all the leftover bits and pieces) was kind of euphoric, and totally motivating!<br />
<br />
As the new year rolled around, I decided to aim for that "finished" feeling more often, and my YEAR OF SMALL PROJECTS was born :)<br />
<br />
My first project : a zippy hobby bag designed by the talented girls of Sew-a-long, Claire Turpin and Jemima Flendt.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhak5RPaTXME4lyiOb9cVROGWFcjbsWLboCcjgwMUnzzmdlZM1dNVXDXB7YVnJDqLidh2u_kAs5k79j4Aqrl8ZZNmqfPgT8HCh5IsQXSJGAh6TTLlNcbztNNyCX-9dKcpiHJcsZLi4O5Q/s1600/IMG_9653.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhak5RPaTXME4lyiOb9cVROGWFcjbsWLboCcjgwMUnzzmdlZM1dNVXDXB7YVnJDqLidh2u_kAs5k79j4Aqrl8ZZNmqfPgT8HCh5IsQXSJGAh6TTLlNcbztNNyCX-9dKcpiHJcsZLi4O5Q/s320/IMG_9653.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Finished in an afternoon, and such a great size!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuo-yipGIzeiZdHoU1b4zaZDqD06ujOVqODH-nk_IZbrqyGd6RBqsIgWrTe5pggDmjRSW5V4bWTQdkhQALxQrD_hl40FaVG75Lij1NvefknSekqS7SzNVK4Gf9R709uEtTBz8sOVabnA/s1600/IMG_9658.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuo-yipGIzeiZdHoU1b4zaZDqD06ujOVqODH-nk_IZbrqyGd6RBqsIgWrTe5pggDmjRSW5V4bWTQdkhQALxQrD_hl40FaVG75Lij1NvefknSekqS7SzNVK4Gf9R709uEtTBz8sOVabnA/s320/IMG_9658.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Of course, my eldest daughter requested one immediately, and there are another two on my craft desk just waiting to be sewn up.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggA_PiJMENVY4ANCDsH3ZSiqOB9mM13-uKt1yjzrZpD__n0rDBS19FRIfyOb67_U8cvZMaXxrA6fddw68PXK2z6WTHqcwSoSDXaJxxJYCv15KDXRvjf83NlDllBTpEovA9iVFnUzQakg/s1600/IMG_9685.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggA_PiJMENVY4ANCDsH3ZSiqOB9mM13-uKt1yjzrZpD__n0rDBS19FRIfyOb67_U8cvZMaXxrA6fddw68PXK2z6WTHqcwSoSDXaJxxJYCv15KDXRvjf83NlDllBTpEovA9iVFnUzQakg/s320/IMG_9685.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
I then stumbled across a hashtag on Instagram #2017sewingbookchallenge, which involves sewing some items from craft books that you already own. Luckily for me, I do have the odd one or two ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYFMw7-S3OASCExJynsKXXIt0-Qijk9fFjduGtVdFKyAkBx4K-MIE8L47_Ag1bZckIC8Td7SVhK0w4jYWdOFPskgaL3hcmpTcnaLxscV0x6UguH2vMI6Pl0u-5H1hFjx_BgsB7E8thBw/s1600/IMG_9696.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYFMw7-S3OASCExJynsKXXIt0-Qijk9fFjduGtVdFKyAkBx4K-MIE8L47_Ag1bZckIC8Td7SVhK0w4jYWdOFPskgaL3hcmpTcnaLxscV0x6UguH2vMI6Pl0u-5H1hFjx_BgsB7E8thBw/s320/IMG_9696.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Tilda's Toy Box was my choice, and I even pulled out some lovely Tilda fabrics to make a start on the cushion in the bottom right corner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjarP5VsBnARR0Ch1G8Aofya0AlFnx_VDYudLaTd0R0N4SGEzyVY6-hUgTloh3yzs-5G-n5RixIKIYi3QbRMWn0J_AXphQQbVQXPwHK_FDKP7c8AOVEWoG2GRhDm-165HUVWTiaRVWVCw/s1600/IMG_9698.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjarP5VsBnARR0Ch1G8Aofya0AlFnx_VDYudLaTd0R0N4SGEzyVY6-hUgTloh3yzs-5G-n5RixIKIYi3QbRMWn0J_AXphQQbVQXPwHK_FDKP7c8AOVEWoG2GRhDm-165HUVWTiaRVWVCw/s320/IMG_9698.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Currently crushing on anything Tilda, and just couldn't bring myself to actually cut it. 😳<br />
I did, however, cut some Pixie Noel fabric, and am currently putting the finishing touches to a very pretty cushion.<br />
<br />
A year of small projects...this is already lots of fun!<br />
<br />
<i>Thank you so much for visiting. I know it's been a while (ok, a very long while) since I've shared anything in this space, but I'd like to think I might pop back in a bit more often in 2017. Thanks for reading, and I'd love to hear your comments, or even just leave me one to say hi and let me know if you're still blogging....I miss catching up with everyone's news and creativity!</i><br />

P.S. And the other cushion, for my other dear friend?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is what was wrapped up for her (OMG) and it is currently STILL a work-in-progress. Watch this space 😆suziteehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17945472950225116530noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3772823364680310886.post-80064307808386460332015-09-01T23:02:00.004+08:002015-09-01T23:02:53.467+08:00Natures Journey...bring on the colour!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After months and months of working on my Natures Journey stitch-a-long quilt, I can happily say that I am finally loving it (phew!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6Z8YuN7KNaOLJgKd86JeufwnI7PWfbcH8gB-7KhTKdMk38uV6wNC6HBoO5U3SZFCw_-8TbEtSS4SAMC4sTMpCsoMnJK2U8fwRS9iqc5MFLIMsTY6QfdJxHPsetISQEZg_B0Kcl1xHlw/s1600/IMG_7580.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6Z8YuN7KNaOLJgKd86JeufwnI7PWfbcH8gB-7KhTKdMk38uV6wNC6HBoO5U3SZFCw_-8TbEtSS4SAMC4sTMpCsoMnJK2U8fwRS9iqc5MFLIMsTY6QfdJxHPsetISQEZg_B0Kcl1xHlw/s320/IMG_7580.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Amping up the colour was a good decision for me. Working with plain backgrounds for the first few months was challenging, and since the order of construction for this quilt was working from the borders in to the centre, it was really hard for me to visualise how it would all come together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2O779mnKYFZsEwCHGHm4IEdDx6kRuFuaARlcvejjAYRBVgmawZsUPriYFbaL7Y6WIEc84jLbcB_rHsL0GEWxcJTCo1M24YkXTA-V6CyzkZ2rjsE5ql1tI4HCY-OSYXQamDve0OM7U2g/s1600/IMG_7585.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2O779mnKYFZsEwCHGHm4IEdDx6kRuFuaARlcvejjAYRBVgmawZsUPriYFbaL7Y6WIEc84jLbcB_rHsL0GEWxcJTCo1M24YkXTA-V6CyzkZ2rjsE5ql1tI4HCY-OSYXQamDve0OM7U2g/s320/IMG_7585.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Once I started constructing the centre block, it all began to look more cohesive (thank goodness!) I was also very thankful at this point that I had opted for the vliesofix/blanket stitch applique method, rather than needleturn...sooooo many small pieces to sew into place!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmtJa1eoEFt1aM6qhfk7AVUBXAqebLsQsM4NY2K4G4d8n5hA55YNYxbL_VBJDQ6LcPl196qxMz3NKvqsij2girnRZpCPK2rcCCfLwVEtRhUrtDxjhgLTjMWWqLg3JcM5WehglMW4jpDw/s1600/IMG_7644.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmtJa1eoEFt1aM6qhfk7AVUBXAqebLsQsM4NY2K4G4d8n5hA55YNYxbL_VBJDQ6LcPl196qxMz3NKvqsij2girnRZpCPK2rcCCfLwVEtRhUrtDxjhgLTjMWWqLg3JcM5WehglMW4jpDw/s320/IMG_7644.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Of course, my little helper has been overseeing the entire process, testing each part for comfort and durability. Whatever would I do without her?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A red polkadot peeper border just didn't seem enough, so I stuck with the same fabric for the outer border too. I DO love my red polkadots! I may have to go searching for more soon...there are still a few borders to go ;)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Polkadots in all sizes and colours have pretty much taken over the whole quilt, really. Predictable? Probably.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhchpYe2ol7eTHwd9q7VYcenY9KqHcX-UKCxsegXAczDrdXcZSmJP99FdW8We2OTtJ9p9YESkLzsWJned8qZ8TGC0LEytv-L6Yw8nqng2GMxMub_nvJLZTyIoJTA6AgRcvVgU96IKugDw/s1600/IMG_8774.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhchpYe2ol7eTHwd9q7VYcenY9KqHcX-UKCxsegXAczDrdXcZSmJP99FdW8We2OTtJ9p9YESkLzsWJned8qZ8TGC0LEytv-L6Yw8nqng2GMxMub_nvJLZTyIoJTA6AgRcvVgU96IKugDw/s320/IMG_8774.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
These are the last group of blocks for the stitched border, which means I am ready to start cutting lots and lots of little squares, ready to put the quilt top together....YAY!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTM4TmKHASagfZ_EHGhnS5Y53lXITuvN9Y5k4ClFosZ6M6Me7IrUcFhBAyZxYg8jrKpYcwmVrvXfJAuOhhWUKoe5c4ztqnB8Q6UK6l-JV1ks0I4er19VUmLuL80FwKnNhcwXBXzYA4og/s1600/IMG_8775.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="215" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTM4TmKHASagfZ_EHGhnS5Y53lXITuvN9Y5k4ClFosZ6M6Me7IrUcFhBAyZxYg8jrKpYcwmVrvXfJAuOhhWUKoe5c4ztqnB8Q6UK6l-JV1ks0I4er19VUmLuL80FwKnNhcwXBXzYA4og/s320/IMG_8775.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
Guess I had better stock up on hayfever medication to get me through the first month of Spring...there's a lot of stitching in my immediate future if I'm going to finish this SAL on schedule :)<br />

...but only just! The April blocks for my Natures Journey stitch-a-long proved to be a bit of a challenge to complete. Not that they were hard, but April was a very busy month around here!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I've introduced a few new fabrics into the mix to try to brighten things up a bit. Working on neutral backgrounds with only small pops of colour is a bit foreign to me...and more polkadots are ALWAYS a good idea ;)<br />
<br />
With only one more month of these border blocks to go, I am really looking forward to working with more of Miss Kate for the pieced borders. BRING ON THE COLOUR!<br />

Blocks for March are done and dusted...and just in the nick of time!</div>

<br />
I was VERY late starting on these this month...in fact, half the month was over before I even gave them a thought! Luckily, I had all my supplies sorted and ready to go...it was just a case of finding some motivation to get stuck into it :) A bit of late night tracing, some early morning stitching and I'm up to date for March...thank goodness, because Chookyblue is cracking her whip hard!<br />
<br />
I probably should start preparing my April blocks ready for stitching, but I have so many other projects on the go at the moment...know the feeling? If only I could stitch all day.....<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Those of you who have been visiting my blog for a while will know that I love to make BIG long-term projects. Especially quilts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Occasionally I finish one off, and while I was missing-in-action from my blog during 2014, I actually finished off a few!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUwisfDIuMh02-G5QGH8rEULRcJe7WnubjdPwuzRR5VDdqPpUIU6wLIQQUniLJzl9GTtBWRnVzZR6a1roccTo-2hmCx3zBnxR-6w1WPxq01BPgGLvMW2qvXME1BnbOd2Yw6Wseda5AIw/s1600/IMG_8550.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUwisfDIuMh02-G5QGH8rEULRcJe7WnubjdPwuzRR5VDdqPpUIU6wLIQQUniLJzl9GTtBWRnVzZR6a1roccTo-2hmCx3zBnxR-6w1WPxq01BPgGLvMW2qvXME1BnbOd2Yw6Wseda5AIw/s1600/IMG_8550.JPG" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
A dear friend hinted to me recently that she would love to see a bit more of my Scandinavian Rose quilt, and since she asked nicely, I thought I just might take some photos ;)<br />
<br />
Scandinavian Rose is a pattern by the very talented Rosalie Quinlan. It came as a series of pre-printed stitcheries, and I also ordered a fabric pack to match her original version done in pinks and reds.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWy7fFdzO96m_VxilgkuuYrcKckuAs_e4KqQFdn0fQjS5LhXeSKn9mbkYqdvREk5KvotUx7Vz3zu2zAQpTMpgr-LbIlHwvVbdZbiSi5xw5RtYRr_Iku7OaXxxVdtpirrI3yToxPJYN3w/s1600/photo+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWy7fFdzO96m_VxilgkuuYrcKckuAs_e4KqQFdn0fQjS5LhXeSKn9mbkYqdvREk5KvotUx7Vz3zu2zAQpTMpgr-LbIlHwvVbdZbiSi5xw5RtYRr_Iku7OaXxxVdtpirrI3yToxPJYN3w/s1600/photo+2.jpg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't LOVE the pinks and reds, so I ended up ditching them altogether and dived into my box of Bonnie and Camille scraps instead. There's a lot of Bliss, some Ruby, and also some Tanya Whelan Delilah pieces in there too. It really was just a mash up of my favourite colours...pink, turquoise, red and apple green, with lots of polkadot goodness as well. Go with what you love, right?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4IiTjJW11xOfBYXH_s9f-QJu_Hm0AKFlfddvMiUVMFrOEpiyr4MA4p7Nl4aH5VJW1Ar9isQAdCBjq88UGCj34BAPgJXRy5NjDlK28Sdy0YF8KEHf2O4WqF7SSDKbETq62GxfXdJmhKg/s1600/IMG_8552.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA0GlGQhg7sLKMldE12Z8fDagVuOr94H3M84nLOXPTZBx7QJc81qxYA1hbTf_O52MwaI3y7VixF35U1RL0tJ10HDj6mQoTzvCplM7QZb7oyOG3eAuloyqwAVFRSjUIuKyCssqsPxl3zg/s1600/IMG_8554.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgA0GlGQhg7sLKMldE12Z8fDagVuOr94H3M84nLOXPTZBx7QJc81qxYA1hbTf_O52MwaI3y7VixF35U1RL0tJ10HDj6mQoTzvCplM7QZb7oyOG3eAuloyqwAVFRSjUIuKyCssqsPxl3zg/s1600/IMG_8554.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The stitching took me months and months, and the piecing took me even more months.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I decided to quilt it myself (what was I thinking???) and it sat for a fair bit longer.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Totally love the back of it...which is probably the only thing that kept me going!</div>

<br />
I learned just how much patience was required to cross-hatch all those tiny little squares...and it turned out to be a real test of mine! I bit off sections at a time, and just kept at it....and at it...and at it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My cute little assistant offered lots of encouragement along the way...she is just SO helpful!<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't think I would EVER get to the end, but one day, I did! I finished it off with a solid turquoise binding, which I think really made the colours POP.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil6Jn3Tmpks0czafaNeO38a0nQFEHQnanDde762x2MSyhNx30EPvejdmuwHRz7VE2O2g81k0Oc8kgtcUCiGKQiCIfjSAdwuLfcQpn3DGjKVzDoSglDglsjuJw7K7JGoboX63yAz4vO9g/s1600/IMG_8555.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil6Jn3Tmpks0czafaNeO38a0nQFEHQnanDde762x2MSyhNx30EPvejdmuwHRz7VE2O2g81k0Oc8kgtcUCiGKQiCIfjSAdwuLfcQpn3DGjKVzDoSglDglsjuJw7K7JGoboX63yAz4vO9g/s1600/IMG_8555.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>

Funnily enough, I really miss having Scandinavian Rose to stitch....long term projects are definitely my thing :)<br />

One Little Word...it didn't come easily for me this year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Usually I have word possibilities swirling around in my head for several weeks leading up to Christmas. By the time New Year rolls around, my word is already becoming part of my everyday.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Not this time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Seeking inspiration, I revisited my One Little Word choices from previous years, and one thing was glaringly obvious to me. Although the words had changed, the overall sentiment behind those words was always the same...do more, be more, lose weight, get fit, eat healthier, be a better mum ...blah blah blah.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At that point I abandoned the whole concept, dismissing it as just a clever repackaging of the old New Years Resolution.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I got to thinking about the constant self improvement that we all seem to be striving for, which led to the question...what if I am, in fact, enough? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUr5chRJrWOZP0CViYaO6MSJ_flbW1OZzYGU2VkDqpTRcmSh1C3wkOvOu_T_8yTmidu30PxmoFu2cOsNI-01Mr1nYPKhiSQqVmzOGllmE3kh3BFri17eCfLegRPrr8n2jIm3QXWUVf2A/s1600/IMG_6960.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUr5chRJrWOZP0CViYaO6MSJ_flbW1OZzYGU2VkDqpTRcmSh1C3wkOvOu_T_8yTmidu30PxmoFu2cOsNI-01Mr1nYPKhiSQqVmzOGllmE3kh3BFri17eCfLegRPrr8n2jIm3QXWUVf2A/s1600/IMG_6960.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
What if I am exactly who I am meant to be right now? I'm good enough, strong enough and I try enough? I work enough, care enough and am fit enough? I spend enough time with all the important people in my life, and my best is good enough?<br />
<br />
To be honest...I LOVE that I'm learning to let go of my (often very high/unreasonable) expectations of myself, and letting myself just BE....giving myself permission to call it good instead of pushing myself too hard (and the inevitable disappointment when I don't achieve what I set out to)...accepting that I can't always be everything to everyone.<br />
<br />
I'm even learning to recognise when enough is ENOUGH, and that it's ok to step back from activities/relationships/commitments that no longer make me happy.<br />
<br />
This One Little Word has definitely given me lots to think about so far!<br />

Cross stitch was one of the very first crafts that I ever attempted...and my love for it was instant :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I loved the pretty threads, the evenness of the stitches, and the thrill of creating something beautiful on what started out as a plain piece of fabric.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I completed quite a few pieces, collected quite a few kits, and then moved on to other crafts....until I discovered The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery late in 2013.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This small business is run by two very talented friends, who design the cutest patterns! I started with a couple of their Christmas designs (which are currently at the framers...yay!) and then signed up for their 2014 monthly program called Once Upon A Time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0olxrzY6trM3CALhChoeVk0HGJTprXKWIMK8lwKnYBid5ml4PHUBNk52PIfqMIAnz2lALrYUIOhHuJznNxy52njaIcMmO1MbHDtlDRNt5iRdkh6yma_qTiPjjlR5Iu7mCuulrOMvriA/s1600/IMG_7013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0olxrzY6trM3CALhChoeVk0HGJTprXKWIMK8lwKnYBid5ml4PHUBNk52PIfqMIAnz2lALrYUIOhHuJznNxy52njaIcMmO1MbHDtlDRNt5iRdkh6yma_qTiPjjlR5Iu7mCuulrOMvriA/s1600/IMG_7013.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Each month, a new part of the design is emailed direct to your inbox, and you have all month to work on it. Nothing like a deadline to keep me motivated! Once Upon a Time is based on children's stories, and I thoroughly enjoyed stitching it...although i'll admit I still have about half of December to complete ;)<br />
<br />
I wasn't planning on signing up for the 2015 program....hahaha...no, really! The theme is classic literature, and I honestly thought I could resist. And I did for a while...until I saw sneak peeks of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland, and then I was hooked!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx7-pR9d-nByIpqPu2ngj48kfi7PJm6UkFbv9Ls7uBKe-vokHIIP_fCZiR8QHPkGT7LRRPoL7v8WafX0jCNKXGE3CMtcTiG3pNzMAVLIENZkx8urLZl7C6qmd8kHEJuZlXGzJofLe-0A/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx7-pR9d-nByIpqPu2ngj48kfi7PJm6UkFbv9Ls7uBKe-vokHIIP_fCZiR8QHPkGT7LRRPoL7v8WafX0jCNKXGE3CMtcTiG3pNzMAVLIENZkx8urLZl7C6qmd8kHEJuZlXGzJofLe-0A/s1600/photo.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
February's block is the Secret Garden, and it is just as cute. The frames are stitched in Weeks Dye Works variegated thread, which gives them a lovely antique look. I'm reading the books as I stitch the blocks...a great excuse to reread some of my favourites, and maybe even add some to that list.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm resisting the urge to stitch up the title banner and all of the frames...as I really should finish off Once Upon a Time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That's what I keep telling myself, anyway ;)</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I probably didn't need a(nother) new project to work on ;) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In fact, when <a href="http://www.chookyblue.blogspot.com/">Chookyblue</a> announced on the <a href="http://www.stitch-a-long.blogspot.com/">stitch-a-long blog</a> that she was planning a new project for 2015, I mentally reassured myself that I would <i>not</i> be joining up. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed working on the previous stitch-a-longs...and even managed to complete them all according to schedule...I figured that I had quite enough to work on right now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then the project was announced, and I was powerless to resist....I love Anni Downs patterns!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEqT43LBurE9hKZz6sJ6QUw0u0UImoOc9W7mbplNIpYP-ssPy3NfdlNOoZ0OCMmA68jaDmkf0I92zVhimO4E6Un3ndxhjOgyuADmMXbTuZF7wGWL_7HnEaDo1GOdaxyGS-TFjGcFM-9A/s1600/photo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEqT43LBurE9hKZz6sJ6QUw0u0UImoOc9W7mbplNIpYP-ssPy3NfdlNOoZ0OCMmA68jaDmkf0I92zVhimO4E6Un3ndxhjOgyuADmMXbTuZF7wGWL_7HnEaDo1GOdaxyGS-TFjGcFM-9A/s1600/photo.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had signed up before I had the chance to reconsider, and set about choosing some fabrics. The pattern lends itself to scraps, but after lots of auditioning (and mess-making!) I decided to use Bonnie and Camille's Miss Kate as the basis for my colour selections.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNDNPxJqQtNLrfqGNaOC_KjIwgGXtRKOB69PzgiMxDQhhObGBHfsQbm8IjaefMTqSYqLFgsGOac0k_NWD3sEmObNq9CxlkJo-2FRpXXs7d_m867_eE2UgESgJhucrJwpJ0gT0B0qZIqg/s1600/IMG_6945.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNDNPxJqQtNLrfqGNaOC_KjIwgGXtRKOB69PzgiMxDQhhObGBHfsQbm8IjaefMTqSYqLFgsGOac0k_NWD3sEmObNq9CxlkJo-2FRpXXs7d_m867_eE2UgESgJhucrJwpJ0gT0B0qZIqg/s1600/IMG_6945.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It wasn't until I pulled the matching threads that I realised I had reverted back to my standard colours....red, aqua, candy pink and apple green, with some navy and burnt orange to add some pop. Oh well, at least I know I'll love the finished result!<br />
<br />
Part One of our stitching schedule was to complete 4 large blocks and 7 small...not too daunting once I got started.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYNJbA4KelbCxH5nDZtWBEgX_QSObZP9VljoH2HiVhbWmqyBXqIWmH5wWMythjEQrcnb9JNgayGhdI8VP_YmcQTkFaV322NTGPekTarkQLMjwC6rtpVkYCjKWfebUY6CPteqRuHH5z6g/s1600/IMG_6985.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYNJbA4KelbCxH5nDZtWBEgX_QSObZP9VljoH2HiVhbWmqyBXqIWmH5wWMythjEQrcnb9JNgayGhdI8VP_YmcQTkFaV322NTGPekTarkQLMjwC6rtpVkYCjKWfebUY6CPteqRuHH5z6g/s1600/IMG_6985.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm hoping they look a bit more cohesive once I make a few more over the coming months...it's all looking a bit random so far!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiM_PTFTr_oq2p-Dzs71aJtF33yx590Ru8pK0bX1YW2zZoI7oPMiIXNikIqffi54MJXllSzmyJti6wXiH767WJkXttR5aHIOjMG9aPRtwXCs0bTPzizDKzLUqr6F_7TutYMrhPl9dwMQ/s1600/IMG_6983.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiM_PTFTr_oq2p-Dzs71aJtF33yx590Ru8pK0bX1YW2zZoI7oPMiIXNikIqffi54MJXllSzmyJti6wXiH767WJkXttR5aHIOjMG9aPRtwXCs0bTPzizDKzLUqr6F_7TutYMrhPl9dwMQ/s1600/IMG_6983.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I hesitated in stitching the year block. I mean, really, is it likely that I'll finish Natures Journey in 2015?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbgoQiZi6bv1EOalRLAD8OPzXaWFqbbAk7OmKq1YdxhIezsd0ackESuF_XSWLXQGDamHKMWYNcTGlZkTQneD_fZ3iOOcZ79s7CHJJJuxqXQHgWQvMtlAxkAPco4G7b5mZLefZnQwhn4Q/s1600/IMG_6976.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbgoQiZi6bv1EOalRLAD8OPzXaWFqbbAk7OmKq1YdxhIezsd0ackESuF_XSWLXQGDamHKMWYNcTGlZkTQneD_fZ3iOOcZ79s7CHJJJuxqXQHgWQvMtlAxkAPco4G7b5mZLefZnQwhn4Q/s1600/IMG_6976.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
With the<a href="http://www.stitch-a-long.blogspot.com/"> blog</a> being updated with such inspiring work from very talented stitchers, and the encouragement of my stitching buddies, I'm hoping I can keep up the pace. Part One...February stitching...is now complete! YAY!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you need a little stitching inspiration, the blog is really worth a look :)</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Computer issues have plagued me for the longest time. I've been using a rather ancient Windows XP computer and had no end of problems, especially with blogging. My photos wouldn't upload properly, my comments weren't coming through, my posts wouldn't save...it just went on and on...and on. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I gave up :(</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggXC-oYczJ8Wkg8sBDJG2cJ1ZgkmvfNwvf_I6EIkuR2j03GiyrdGkkA8smp-BHEaEozXvJq4B6o4EmdJXRsL_74HhIgBNpdOgoL-0Ef6bvXEoooWplMpMs0AR-gwhCxhOV4W29UcjtcQ/s1600/IMG_8211.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggXC-oYczJ8Wkg8sBDJG2cJ1ZgkmvfNwvf_I6EIkuR2j03GiyrdGkkA8smp-BHEaEozXvJq4B6o4EmdJXRsL_74HhIgBNpdOgoL-0Ef6bvXEoooWplMpMs0AR-gwhCxhOV4W29UcjtcQ/s1600/IMG_8211.JPG" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The good news is that I have overcome my fear of new technology enough to buy myself a new computer...yay! Having a teenager who is tech-savvy has been my saviour...he has created a polkadot background for me, transferred most of my files, and is working on getting my email up and running. I might actually start enjoying using technology once more....which may just translate into</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
blogging a little bit more often than once a year? I'll make that my goal.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Catching up a little...remember that little puppy we looked at before Christmas last year? Look how much she grew! She is now a beautiful one year old, and I'm not quite sure what our family talked about or even did before we adopted Gretel. She has become the centre of our household...and helps me with lots of my sewing projects :)<br />

<br />
A new year always brings lots of motivation and good intentions, and the beginning of 2015 has been no different. Right now, I'm madly working on my December Daily 2014 album, finishing up Project Life for 2014, binding my Scandinavian Rose quilt (yes...it's almost finished!), and making long long lists of projects that I'd like to complete in 2015...some things never change ;)<br />
<br />

<br />
I look forward to each pack arriving in my letterbox, and have been keeping on top of the stitching fairly well...it doesn't take too long once you make a start ;)<br />

<br />
Block Seven was a bit of a surprise...a house block! It's called Lemon Lodge by Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings, and makes me very curious as to what the next block will be :)<br />
<br />

<br />
The new 2014 Mystery Block of the Month program has recently been announced, and I was kind of happy that it doesn't appeal to me...the colours are quite dull, and not my style at all. I have lots of projects that I'd love to finish this year, and a couple of new quilts that I'd love to start...a little more achievable without a MBOM commitment.<br />
<br />
Well...a girl can always dream :)<br />

How slack is that!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb3Z-dVJxU1N1zBhdylaKhYHdDaqsu0kLWmm_NlYgI37SOj7ZE8DXFLMObga1WFRGsnCo8TbA38P17kI-B17sVVbQj8tp2wLl0lg-UOYoausN-L0GGVyIuvF-PcXLMtm7Nik5wa3ZXFw/s1600/IMG_7273+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_60479="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb3Z-dVJxU1N1zBhdylaKhYHdDaqsu0kLWmm_NlYgI37SOj7ZE8DXFLMObga1WFRGsnCo8TbA38P17kI-B17sVVbQj8tp2wLl0lg-UOYoausN-L0GGVyIuvF-PcXLMtm7Nik5wa3ZXFw/s1600/IMG_7273+resize.jpg" height="213" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Each year that I've been doing Project Life, I question the need for making a December Daily album. After all, how much documentation does one need? Each year, however, my elder daughter convinces me that I should do it...she's very persuasive :) <br />
<br />
I decided to change to pocket style scrapbooking and a ready made album for 2013, as it gave me a good excuse to buy a Simple Stories mini album (wink) and also some Christmas themed Project Life-style goodies... aannnnndd I was also aiming for a quick and simple solution ;) <br />
<br />
I spent a bit too long on my title page, but loved how it turned out. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg56fE9Ef77V86BwUgoifHFbVOZ9HgK5lyAHua96mUbBYZfJ8Yx84RHmbUnZa_vrVrxjRoSRzwSiVH1wsL5CZL5rhLjrqWb_tmicfg52vQ23vy9C50hrBoRs4RVQuk1NoubC_v5YoaUog/s1600/IMG_7265+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_60479="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg56fE9Ef77V86BwUgoifHFbVOZ9HgK5lyAHua96mUbBYZfJ8Yx84RHmbUnZa_vrVrxjRoSRzwSiVH1wsL5CZL5rhLjrqWb_tmicfg52vQ23vy9C50hrBoRs4RVQuk1NoubC_v5YoaUog/s1600/IMG_7265+resize.jpg" height="213" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div>I mostly stuck with elements from December Documented by Simple Stories, and some of the Becky Higgins PL Merry and Bright mini kit, with a few extra embellishments along the way.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQMJX3fbiKZVDP_aL3ExsLfWEuhOWydgBPBvmQHTcwgzFuYFKxJCvmdPXa8q3XwGO1Q8xUjwf2lupKyTIOoVxbJPePAK1Na_8mapZEgNYnCExugzCeuz3T8jAkG-k-BoiaMMXYn9SJ6w/s1600/IMG_7262+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQMJX3fbiKZVDP_aL3ExsLfWEuhOWydgBPBvmQHTcwgzFuYFKxJCvmdPXa8q3XwGO1Q8xUjwf2lupKyTIOoVxbJPePAK1Na_8mapZEgNYnCExugzCeuz3T8jAkG-k-BoiaMMXYn9SJ6w/s1600/IMG_7262+resize.jpg" height="212" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Wood veneer bits and pieces from Studio Calico added some extra dimension to the plain journal cards, and I scattered them throughout the album.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjECp1vYPOdBMHse6Ta0WqEl2J0ImhAIyEiq3Y3xWXJM-cleIveHd-xT9j16XTjxUoiqLNMDmngr6lEn161WYbSl2u32s9yyWNccHNjrcw2tfJ60ohX-dAnuxRnsRutWPsbCRyyTMZsuw/s1600/IMG_7266+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_60479="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjECp1vYPOdBMHse6Ta0WqEl2J0ImhAIyEiq3Y3xWXJM-cleIveHd-xT9j16XTjxUoiqLNMDmngr6lEn161WYbSl2u32s9yyWNccHNjrcw2tfJ60ohX-dAnuxRnsRutWPsbCRyyTMZsuw/s1600/IMG_7266+resize.jpg" height="270" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div>On the spur of the moment, I ordered a DD mini kit from Polkadot Creative, mainly for this cute little Christmas confetti pocket ;) I stapled it straight into a pocket, and embellished with a clear word from Heidi Swapp's Believe Collection (leftovers from the class I went to in November)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP_0AxCBVXtoeMDKX4W9CZgP1iz9yVmdtwU06uI1Pav0TTItAAvVNXRnO-FaDzuGo90e4BBk8LFX_6CJa8Qwp2zin2c8RnZCE9cDCrfCYrdo6EsCNkw4Ie6DZnhJxHxUAYOCDF8nOjpQ/s1600/IMG_7267+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_60479="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP_0AxCBVXtoeMDKX4W9CZgP1iz9yVmdtwU06uI1Pav0TTItAAvVNXRnO-FaDzuGo90e4BBk8LFX_6CJa8Qwp2zin2c8RnZCE9cDCrfCYrdo6EsCNkw4Ie6DZnhJxHxUAYOCDF8nOjpQ/s1600/IMG_7267+resize.jpg" height="213" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div>I covered the back-to-front letters on the reverse side with another Heidi Swapp leftover, this time a banner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8CSNtujJVdwOHWTOe1CXfuVJFIDDlBuHZkg8jQ3ratnkHrViDutJB1y4mGCH0g8HHnAF5ijOKz3htmcT8Sb-WfexP-Ydk20Ku6i_uHyJyFfZdwDN1-hqh6N8S_dXYq8xUGMFeHDWlRw/s1600/Image+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_60479="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8CSNtujJVdwOHWTOe1CXfuVJFIDDlBuHZkg8jQ3ratnkHrViDutJB1y4mGCH0g8HHnAF5ijOKz3htmcT8Sb-WfexP-Ydk20Ku6i_uHyJyFfZdwDN1-hqh6N8S_dXYq8xUGMFeHDWlRw/s1600/Image+resize.jpg" height="213" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div>Of course, once I started with the Heidi Swapp goodies, I couldn't resist adding more and more :) LOVE these enamel stickers!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEReN_6WRHjEyHIiQHEkqbAPCIfYq4gED9v03UUm3Uew-L5b0i0iTrdgLWMsVfCnV6pkWkBGZ-HmUEsyCWsgUiffKtzjHHjTzhlq6Ah79IBV30RQ0YsmFam2INOSJEqzCPw7jcVEqMDg/s1600/IMG_7270+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_60479="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEReN_6WRHjEyHIiQHEkqbAPCIfYq4gED9v03UUm3Uew-L5b0i0iTrdgLWMsVfCnV6pkWkBGZ-HmUEsyCWsgUiffKtzjHHjTzhlq6Ah79IBV30RQ0YsmFam2INOSJEqzCPw7jcVEqMDg/s1600/IMG_7270+resize.jpg" height="213" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I wanted to include a couple of larger photos, and managed to achieve a fairly good quality enlargement from my iPhone photos of Christmas lights...surprising, but great! I added a couple of stickers to jazz them up a bit.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhayYLkD8IPaTVF7zHVbTmN4s9AlXzK72xMjt93Itb8AaeWW28fEf80CH7Dw15USrjDa5m8IIhNeRa1cYzjJDQ7CwnB5USr6NngVCWSpHfCqX-IWmJs1QXzwCfLCCwZGGcWHh0lc3HTWQ/s1600/Image+22+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_60479="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhayYLkD8IPaTVF7zHVbTmN4s9AlXzK72xMjt93Itb8AaeWW28fEf80CH7Dw15USrjDa5m8IIhNeRa1cYzjJDQ7CwnB5USr6NngVCWSpHfCqX-IWmJs1QXzwCfLCCwZGGcWHh0lc3HTWQ/s1600/Image+22+resize.jpg" height="210" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Each year I've done A December Daily album (which is quite a few now!) I include a pocket at the back for my Christmas cards that I received. I've never liked throwing out Christmas cards, but even more so now that they are becoming smaller and smaller in number. Not many people send them these days, and it is SO nice to find them in my letterbox in the weeks leading up to the big day!<br />
<br />
Anyhoo...I didn't have any of the correct sized plastic pockets left for the Christmas cards, so cut down a larger one, taped it all together with some festive washi tape, and stapled on top for added strength. It's holding together very well so far.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0bRVHkDLI0tlkU5669fGo1NEcLCrnZAxLSDk2r-ah-cQ7OmZhWswmN2ssuZkGcXrhFLy3IIcTDyYazLl9vDf4_cB_mgMiHlwfXjWvkWE1mjwfU1V9TKV6ErsTJa5dezV0KuIOFKoQXg/s1600/IMG_7272+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_60479="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0bRVHkDLI0tlkU5669fGo1NEcLCrnZAxLSDk2r-ah-cQ7OmZhWswmN2ssuZkGcXrhFLy3IIcTDyYazLl9vDf4_cB_mgMiHlwfXjWvkWE1mjwfU1V9TKV6ErsTJa5dezV0KuIOFKoQXg/s1600/IMG_7272+resize.jpg" height="208" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />
So there you have it...a little sneak peek of my December Daily for 2013. The stickers on the front of the album are more Heidi Swapp...we received SO many goodies in that class, I will be using them up forever I think :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxialInkDlrQidhUki8DtRex9LmGNoBGHATkc65hzZFnXJcrSJJ7kyrOa5Zw1FpDFBdSc551WQ-onBJOqvoUhAmtR2OHIGVwiW3TuqSvTuAzrXTj7m7nDvflE6N_F5VDz7FN4iMSwZQ/s1600/DD+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxialInkDlrQidhUki8DtRex9LmGNoBGHATkc65hzZFnXJcrSJJ7kyrOa5Zw1FpDFBdSc551WQ-onBJOqvoUhAmtR2OHIGVwiW3TuqSvTuAzrXTj7m7nDvflE6N_F5VDz7FN4iMSwZQ/s1600/DD+resize.jpg" height="319" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div>I probably should admit that I didn't keep up with it AT ALL well in those busy weeks before Christmas, but managed to pull it all together before the start of 2014 (only just though!). The pocket page format made it very achievable, and I would definitely consider doing that again...especially if there are cute new albums to be bought ;)<br />
<br />
Thanks for hanging in till the end!<br />

Hello Project Life 2014!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN1VT0pXnL0dJbFyJeHlvDBnShgdFdq7IJoqMpPf5VFIh8juvJ15x_1OBLcCpV06J7cuz7trXKot2kOKnW_hio8iGlu6pjXSbKwaZp8wqRLY1DLwASR6QCwy4nUQAtkQr3_ClCoMQrPw/s1600/IMG_7247+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_186506="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN1VT0pXnL0dJbFyJeHlvDBnShgdFdq7IJoqMpPf5VFIh8juvJ15x_1OBLcCpV06J7cuz7trXKot2kOKnW_hio8iGlu6pjXSbKwaZp8wqRLY1DLwASR6QCwy4nUQAtkQr3_ClCoMQrPw/s1600/IMG_7247+resize.jpg" height="287" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have to say, I am so excited to be documenting another year :) After falling behind a little towards the end of last year, I spent the last few days of 2013 playing catch-up, which didn't excite me much at all!<br />
<br />
Thankfully, once those last few pages were complete, I rediscovered my enthusiasm ;) <br />
<br />
I organise my albums, usually two per year, in these gorgeous red polkadot albums that I picked up from Spotlight on sale. I wait for a great deal, and stock up. I recently bought some bookplates from Officeworks to attach to the outside covers of my albums so that they can be easily identified, and looked through often :)<br />
<br />
My first cover page for 2014 looks something like this...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiATtff-uAWYT2u187omC64ntQCFIp0gNsgs3rKSv1YDTCyP1XGjsvHuno1qyqANc1cEuzBwizrUc7PT_aydm_m9mbwhOO_jAa-hf9f9hyphenhyphenSWjsTITYLx4DbxEaZkSMLtl0-9Pur1JSkvA/s1600/IMG_7243+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_186506="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiATtff-uAWYT2u187omC64ntQCFIp0gNsgs3rKSv1YDTCyP1XGjsvHuno1qyqANc1cEuzBwizrUc7PT_aydm_m9mbwhOO_jAa-hf9f9hyphenhyphenSWjsTITYLx4DbxEaZkSMLtl0-9Pur1JSkvA/s1600/IMG_7243+resize.jpg" height="298" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
...a family photo for the top right corner will finish it off. I've used bits and pieces from my Honey Core Kit, as well as some other cards from my stash.<br />

Spotlight stock some great little phrase card booklets by Pebbles Inc, and they also feature on my title page...I use them quite a lot through my albums.<br />

<br />
Machine stitching finished off the page just nicely :)<br />
<br />
Week One, which seemed to come and go in a flash, looked like this...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhftTL83GMkrETEzVbcX5qjoQJHniGjjJmX56xjTDif1gg2S3dAqe-XlrXQBCdZZGGMFYGyckCJeM1gSj6nKI3i2qFz6_Qx5Uvc2-migPdK_anEZHMGUdwmPBntq26LW_SGs5KkwowZCQ/s1600/IMG_7240+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_186506="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhftTL83GMkrETEzVbcX5qjoQJHniGjjJmX56xjTDif1gg2S3dAqe-XlrXQBCdZZGGMFYGyckCJeM1gSj6nKI3i2qFz6_Qx5Uvc2-migPdK_anEZHMGUdwmPBntq26LW_SGs5KkwowZCQ/s1600/IMG_7240+resize.jpg" height="179" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm not planning on using a single core kit for 2014...like every other year, I'll mix it up each week according to my photos. This week I've used mostly Simple Stories I (heart) Summer collection, with a few extras thrown in.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyVniRQrIP_YisqexSq8o2PQ_cpOrXgJl5EVB_Zn9zav4iaZejAWP6pKtehOtetX-KTxwgiyqR4hNREqe3hRx1Mn5PKl01CQJlcgMinhyzyeHme55CQPALeVSAzbTIH39IM6sXF0wzWw/s1600/IMG_7239+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_186506="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyVniRQrIP_YisqexSq8o2PQ_cpOrXgJl5EVB_Zn9zav4iaZejAWP6pKtehOtetX-KTxwgiyqR4hNREqe3hRx1Mn5PKl01CQJlcgMinhyzyeHme55CQPALeVSAzbTIH39IM6sXF0wzWw/s1600/IMG_7239+resize.jpg" height="152" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div>
Since it's been SO long since I've shared any Project Life pages with you, I thought you might like some close-ups :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I basically use the same format each week...Design A page protectors, lots of photos, and little bits I collect during the week. Roses chocolates definitely had to be included this week...oh boy, I've eaten some of those lately!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh53Hw9jwVsatVlchFQz_LbHp_VqyGA_SVYQYXCx3UyylYfWsvpKn6en8XAGzp3LiUc8XSlrETU-Ld0-VemWnT8BR7P_kF40YHGw23Mc35x_Y77QEYUZCUXp5fzr-oO6qWFlPhkPzHeYg/s1600/IMG_7242+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_186506="null" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh53Hw9jwVsatVlchFQz_LbHp_VqyGA_SVYQYXCx3UyylYfWsvpKn6en8XAGzp3LiUc8XSlrETU-Ld0-VemWnT8BR7P_kF40YHGw23Mc35x_Y77QEYUZCUXp5fzr-oO6qWFlPhkPzHeYg/s1600/IMG_7242+resize.jpg" height="286" hua="true" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The yellow squares that contain the journaling in these pages are one of my PL staples too...a MUST to include more words when you also like to use lots of photos. Luckily, I have a stamp set that includes squares, circles, rectangles, all in different sizes, so I can customize the colour to suit.<br />
<br />
So that's Week One done, and Project Life up-to-date so far ;) Hopefully I can keep the momentum going for the whole year!<br />
<br />
Thanks for visiting<br />

<br />
A new year always brings a fresh perspective on things, doesn't it? There is nothing quite like opening a fresh new notebook and filling it with new lists, new goals, and new projects, all with a renewed determination to do more, feel more, be more.<br />
<br />
I truly love the beginning of a new year :)<br />

<br />
We have been having a lovely, relaxed holiday period around here...playing with new Christmas toys, relaxing in the pool, and finishing up lots of projects from 2013, which I will hopefully get around to showing you soon ;) Being on holidays has also meant time to play with some of my goodies from a fantastic class with Heidi Swapp and Kim Jeffrees that I was lucky enough to attend last year, most notably, COLOUR SHINE!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I covered my craft table with as much paper towel protection as I could, and handed my girls the pretty plastic bottles. Lydia, my cautious one, was very restrained in her spraying...carefully, slowly pressing the nozzle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxlcPtSfxvwmDdLhVP4UeZn-x-YC-z7fPTQ3DKOWdCu8dncMIPdexgorIMiA_n8zpXjmugLNdDJ2fOgMQfb8nez4DoRUMbvQUgpptsZUJbBM5vt0pk0roJXkXSaVhnF5krDB_L8tLUYg/s1600/IMG_7218+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_629941="null" gua="true" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxlcPtSfxvwmDdLhVP4UeZn-x-YC-z7fPTQ3DKOWdCu8dncMIPdexgorIMiA_n8zpXjmugLNdDJ2fOgMQfb8nez4DoRUMbvQUgpptsZUJbBM5vt0pk0roJXkXSaVhnF5krDB_L8tLUYg/s320/IMG_7218+resize.jpg" width="206" /></a></div>
<br />
Merryn, on the other hand, went at it like a pro, spritzing and spraying like there was no tomorrow! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQgh0kw0JDyLM8IizVBslWlt3KNPQGglsCiB8QOykhQo2YXF-WTE93BNC2M8K71glxX5o-gYhktUVEhqz4Je7qtbjbNQE9B-71HPUPOJkyDgEcLjNHqtnbeHXejlUhFpa1GIuzOKaz8w/s1600/IMG_7221resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_629941="null" gua="true" height="293" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQgh0kw0JDyLM8IizVBslWlt3KNPQGglsCiB8QOykhQo2YXF-WTE93BNC2M8K71glxX5o-gYhktUVEhqz4Je7qtbjbNQE9B-71HPUPOJkyDgEcLjNHqtnbeHXejlUhFpa1GIuzOKaz8w/s320/IMG_7221resize.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Between us, we created lots of colourful, shiny, pretty stuff, and can't wait to have a card making day to use all of our home-made goodies...love crafting with my girls :)<br />
<br />
I used some of my colour-shined paper to create my first scrapbook layout of 2014...all about my "one little word", nurture.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpA0r96QA4E7jF-LuKetwa5MmlOL_8xg8R5uK9nTXt8qpIj2mPkq8-NHoi-RyqY1GHJm0p95KWIGFnmAg-rAwGWYAqrDcrtjUsqNSPumyZvbdG3DpGCAjHueDnVGBcuvNr30fAp00DGg/s1600/IMG_7227+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_629941="null" gua="true" height="269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpA0r96QA4E7jF-LuKetwa5MmlOL_8xg8R5uK9nTXt8qpIj2mPkq8-NHoi-RyqY1GHJm0p95KWIGFnmAg-rAwGWYAqrDcrtjUsqNSPumyZvbdG3DpGCAjHueDnVGBcuvNr30fAp00DGg/s320/IMG_7227+resize.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
"One Little Word" is the brainchild of Ali Edwards, and encourages you to choose a single word to be your focus for a year. I've been choosing a word for several years now, and find it really helpful in guiding my life and decisions...it's amazing how just one word can have such an impact! For me, "nurture" is about looking after myself and my family...my health, my relationships, my creative spirit, and making decisions that have a positive impact on my life. I can't wait to see where it takes me in 2014!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5C4EMmej1wuM4PqqhbDgWTokHB3iovlJyB73k37lQ2NhXYRzSfzO1hca0VWch8hLOtW3W3iPkOAMB1XMMWR-uZjS_R9oeiIoZFTwxwauvqcxAFlnkSNsMS6FEFVJjntWsaMCGjHORZQ/s1600/IMG_7228.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" closure_lm_629941="null" gua="true" height="230" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5C4EMmej1wuM4PqqhbDgWTokHB3iovlJyB73k37lQ2NhXYRzSfzO1hca0VWch8hLOtW3W3iPkOAMB1XMMWR-uZjS_R9oeiIoZFTwxwauvqcxAFlnkSNsMS6FEFVJjntWsaMCGjHORZQ/s320/IMG_7228.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I've used some machine stitching on my colour-shined background, along with some hand cut polkadot strips for my journaling, and a cute little flair button. It felt good to be creating with paper again ;)<br />
<br />
Happy new year to you...I hope 2014 holds lots of goodness and creativity for you!<br />
