Two for one :)

Today you get to see two December Daily pages...because I'm playing catch-up :)


Yesterday I spent the day with my lovely blog buddies, Janelle and Lisa...I can't begin to tell you how much I treasure the friendship of these girls. On a morning when I was struggling to smile, they had me laughing in two minutes flat! Add the fact that we can talk all-day, non-stop about fabric, and you can see why they are such great company :)

The other page (18 days to go) documents the new addition to our Santa family :) We have a collection of Santas...not just any Santas, but "mode-of-transport Santas"....Santa must be travelling on some form of transport. We have Santa on a motorbike with a sidecar, in a hot air balloon, on a ferris wheel, on a reindeer, on a rooster (!!)...you get the idea :) This year we found Santa driving a train, complete with 3 snowglobe carriages...too cute! I'm not sure how long we can continue this tradition, as it's getting harder and harder to find Santa doing something different!

Progress...

19 days to go as of yesterday...

...and I documented my girls' love of Christmas...she is a Christmas fanatic!The blue heart is some Heather Bailey felt, topped with a twine bow. Again, simple and quick, but that's the way I like it :)

I finished and framed my personalised Christmas stitchery this afternoon...

...the photo angle is a bit weird, but I had lots of reflection to avoid :) The frame is from IKEA.

Another day closer to Christmas, and here are my December Daily pages...

...a night at the movies followed by dinner with my dear friends, and a trampoline competition all day yesterday...

Yes, that is my girl with a medal around her neck...she was thrilled! And yes, that is my son in a fairy dress LOL! They hold an event called Fancy Dress Synchro, and Riley and his synchro partner took out Best Dressed...very sweet, they were :)

It's the weekend...

...and what a busy one it is shaping up to be! Thought I'd pop in to share my December Daily page for yesterday, while I have a spare minute :)

I always take the opportunity to have a mini photo shoot before we put up the Christmas tree...we put on the Christmas carols, pop on our Christmas hats, and I take a few happy snaps before all the action begins...


...it usually takes a few shots for me to get one I like, and this was the best of the bunch this time. Can you tell that Riley was anxious to get it over with? LOL. Then it was time to put up the tree...

...I will do a seperate page for my 12 x 12 Christmas album, but for December Daily I kept it fairly simple. The Everybody Loves Christmas pack by Echo Park that I'm using as the foundation for this album is making it all too easy...which is great at this time of the year!

Day 2...or is that 23?

Happy Friday to you!

Before we get into the December Daily details, I thought I'd show you a little festive something...

My gorgeous nieces and nephews, when they hit the ripe old age of 10, no longer recieve a Christmas gift from me...I find that 10 is about the age where gift cards are the preferred option :) While I am all for gift cards, I think maybe they are a bit boring on Christmas morning...especially when the younger brothers and sisters are opening pressies. So this year I've made a compromise...a gift card tucked into a noodle box, surrounded by their favourite lollies!

I've made the tags using my Slice machine and various stamps, tied with ribbon and twine...these are looking really cute sitting amongst my Christmas decorations (the tree is going up tonight!).

I had a bit of an a-ha moment with the December Daily yesterday...

...if I'm doing a countdown to Christmas, I probably should be doing the numbers backwards (i.e. from 24 down to 1 for Christmas Eve)...doh! So I changed Day 1 into Day 24...

...and all is well with the world once more :)

Better go and help with the Christmas tree...fa la la la la la la la la!

P.S. Sorry that the blog is looking sort of drab...my Christmas blog decorating went horribly wrong, and I just don't have the energy (or patience LOL) to fix it right now! Maybe tomorrow?

I think I broke it...

This is a test post...I may just have fiddled a little too much... bear with me while I try to save it!

Let the documenting begin.

I am a big fan of Ali Edwards' December Daily concept....for so many reasons.

I love looking back on previous albums, reliving the little details of Christmas' past. I love the daily reminder to take a photo or two. I love taking time at the end of each busy day to record a story, big or little. I love that the album is pre-made, so that I don't have to make any hard decisions :) I love the simplicity of it all...that I don't feel the need to make it fancy...that the stories and photos will stand on their own.

Love love love doing December Daily. Here is Day 1...

...I spent some time in the afternoon doing a little photoshoot of a Christmas decoration, which I thought would be the focus of Day 1. However, the story of the day ended up being the search for an Advent Calendar (or 3!!!) which ended at around 7:45 pm, after visits to
countless shops and almost accepting that our advent calendar tradition wouldn't be happening this year. We settled for High School Musical and AFL...which, if you know my kids, is pretty funny :) We were desperate!

I've had the loveliest morning in Merryn's classroom today...


...moulding Christmas chocolates with the kids. How I am going to miss having little ones!

Happy December!

December 1...oh my! It has certainly snuck up on me quickly this year!

One of my favourite things about Christmas is all the yummy food, and last year I gathered some new favourite recipes from here...


Once again this year, Tamar is sharing a new recipe each day until Christmas.They are so fun to print out and keep...I think I'll add these to the album I made up for last year's recipes.

I was also the lucky recipient of a blog award...complete with cupcakes :)

Thank you Beckie! Three things I can share about me are...

1. I love Christmas, and can't wait to pull out the decorations with my kids when they get home from school this afternoon.

2. I love chocolate...much to the detriment of my figure :)

3. I'm hoping that my scrapbooking mojo will return one day soon...LOL...I miss playing with paper every day!

Better days...and fabric!

After a horror day yesterday... which started with lumpy milk on my weet-bix and peaked with my huge kitchen light falling right out of my ceiling (in a cloud of plaster dust and electrical wires!)...today didn't have much to live up to. I'm happy to report it was much, much better than yesterday :)

I did a bit of Christmas shopping (yay...I've started), and arrived home to a letterbox stuffed with goodies of the fabric kind...how could that NOT make a girl smile?

This is the personalised Christmas stitchery I showed you the other day...

...but this one has my name on it (even if it didn't, you could probably tell it was mine by the red polkadots LOL). Of course I made a start immediately, using scraps from my Christmas tablerunner charm pack to add some colour. Speaking of the tablerunner, the backing also arrived...

...which is a good thing because Tracey and Linda have almost finished theirs! Some yummy Bliss was also in the parcel...

...I have no idea what I'm going to make with this yet, but am happy just looking at it for now :)

I also added to my newest collection...Charm Square packs.

Sweetwater are releasing some gorgeous fabrics and things lately!

This one was just for fun too...there are some really cute fabrics in this pack! My backing fabric for a Gardeners Journal also came, so I'm going to be a busy stitcher in the next little while.

Then there was this...

...sigh. They are fabric labels, personalised fabric labels for my Christmas gifts....does it get any cuter?

Enough show and tell...my fingers are itching to stitch!

The sweetest things...

...can be found on the internet! I'm having lots of fun doing some of my Christmas shopping online this year, but this little gift will have MY name on it...(quite literally, actually)


This is a stitchery...the coloured parts are stitched and appliqued onto the print, which come personalised with your family's name...how cool is that? This project was recently featured over on the Sweetwater blog, along with many other gorgeous Christmas projects. Even better, you can buy a kit for most of the projects in the Sweetwater etsy shop .

I can't wait for my kit to arrive...and I know that I won't be able to wait for Christmas to start stitching!
