Happy Halloween :)

Whatever that means LOL!

We seem to be getting caught up in the frenzy of it all, even though I tend to think it should be left to the Americans :) While we don't plan to go trick-or-treating, we have stocked up on lollies, just in case, and certain little ones around here are thinking they might get dressed up, just to answer the door...hmmmmm.

Do you celebrate Halloween? Is it big in your neighbourhood? I'd love to hear what goes on in your part of the world :)

Ducks In A Row

A quick layout share this afternoon...

These are some of the gorgeous Ducks In A Row papers by October Afternoon...love those ducks...and a photo of Riley when he was a bub.

I've cut the newsprint butterflies using the MM Slice, and the coloured ones are from the diecut sheet from the paper collection :) I've hand drawn the detail on them, and the border is machine stitched. Alphas are American Crafts Thickers (just for a change LOL).
Thanks for visiting

Thimbles and Love.

For the longest time I have been searching for a thimble. Not just any old thimble, but a replacement for my very damaged but much loved plastic thimble that I refuse to part with, and can't seem to stitch without...it's like an old friend :)

Today my search took me here...

...a very dangerous place for fabric lovers in Mosman Park. And while I was supposed to be "just along for the ride" while Evana fed her new addiction, my heart almost stopped when I found the haberdashery section.

It's just like my old thimble...but better! Metal, not plastic! Expensive, but so so necessary when blanket stitching. YIPPPEEEEE!!!
It only got better...

Amy Butler's brand new fabric line...Love. What an appropriate name...it is TO DIE FOR delicious, and I have just the thing that I'm going to make with it :)
The shop was so full of beautiful things, it was very difficult to be restrained...so much funky, modern, bright ,colourful fabric, books galore, and inspiration around every corner...

...oh dear.
My fingers are just itching to start cutting and stitching!

Tick!

Slowly ticking off my crafting to-do list, which is always a nice feeling :)

The October challenge over at Scrapsidaisy was to create a LO with the following elements: flowers, the colour yellow, a title beginning with the letter "t" and brads/gems.

Challenges can give you direction as far as creating a LO, which can be a good thing when you haven't created a page in a while...like me :) The letter "t" criteria has had me stumped for a while, till I came across these photos of Lydia...how cute is she? Love the little fist clenched in excitement.

I've stitched around the outside with green thread,

and stamped some flowers as well, then decorated them with small gems. The title is painted green, then glazed with MM Glitter Glaze and Kindyglitz combined...sparkly! I've used paper from October Afternoon Ducks In A Row called Sleep Tight, Bazzill dots for the background, AC Thickers and AMM chipboard alphas.
Thanks for visiting :)

Spring and Mistletoe

Oh how I dislike Spring...especially warm Spring days when there is a gentle breeze, stirring up the pollens and grasses and making me housebound, itching my eyes and blowing my nose while my family are off enjoying the sun. (I'll spare you the gruesome photo this year hee hee).

So, I'm consoling myself with chocolate (so predictable!) and yummy new Making Memories goodies :) while enjoying the peace and quiet.

Mistletoe is the Christmas line from Making Memories for 2009, and as well as some beautiful papers and embellishments, it contains a journaling book which is perfect for cardmaking.

Let me show you...

It has 30 sheets, 15 of which are transparencies....such fun to work with!

You really don't need to add much to the journaling sheets to achieve a classy Christmas card, and once you have your design, you can make another 4 the same...a great head start to your hand made Christmas cards!

I've added some bling, some MM Poinsettias, a touch of ribbon here and there...but really, the journal pad does all the work!

All the goodies to get you started are available at Tomorrows Memories , or you can purchase some that I've made...if you're quick!

Housework be damned...

...when the girl says she wants to craft, WE CRAFT! Much more interesting than housework :)

This is what Merryn made, and kindly agreed to me sharing :)

An underwater scene featuring Cuttlebugged sea creatures and pieced water background, hand coloured sand and finished with decorative scissor edging....beautiful.

While collaborating on the above piece, I made some more cards! My Making Memories Paperie was still sitting on my desk...

...and since Miss Merryn was making enough mess for both of us, I just used it :)

The 3 Little Pigs are from a K & Co release a few years back, and I've punched the border with Fiskars Decorative Lace punch.

More Paperie and some Prima flowers...

...and more punching and Prima flowers! Now to go and clean up...hope you are having a great day!

Into the stash....

I love sewing....

...especially when I can use some fabrics from my recently rediscovered fabric stash!

While this little project had a few little hiccups...like the other night when I sewed the frill inside out which I'm blaming on my poor lighting situation hahaha...it came together nicely in the end. I used Janelle Wind's Thelma's Day Out pattern for this bag, and the cute birdy print fabric that the postie brought for me in the school holidays. The other fabrics are from Stash Number 2....the fabrics that have lived in the garage for far too long! Lots of treasures to be found in those boxes :)

My little helper.

I'm starting to realize just how quickly this year is passing...

...and how quickly my day times with this little girl are disappearing. School is looming, and days spent cooking and crafting with my little helper are all the more precious. Sob sob...I hate it when they go to school.

Enough sadness...here are some cards we made today :)

Using up some of my favourite bits and bobs from various Making Memories lines...Noteworthy and Paperie on this one.

Paperie and Kand Co, with a lovely Melissa Frances stamp.

Noteworthy and Paperie again....love my Making Memories :)
Have a great day

Excuses :)

I have nothing to show you. Not a thing.

You want to know why?

1. The days have been hot, and I can't play with paper while supervising children in the pool (or while swimming...yep, it's been that hot!)

2. The crafty things I have been working on are Christmas gifts...and I don't want to spoil the surprises.

3. It is Spring...and I suffer terribly from hayfever (and by the end of the day my eyes don't work)

4. I don't have a good light to work with at night (which will be rectified soon, because guess who won the giveaway over at http://www.aspoonfullofsugargirls.blogspot.com/ ....yep, ME!!!!!!)

5. The one card I made this week I gave away before I took a photo...der!

5. Ummmm...ok, I've run out of excuses LOL

Did any of those work for you???

Bloggy business!

Happy Sunday :)

Thought I would pop in to take care of some bloggy business!

Have you been over to http://www.spoonfullofsugargirls.blogspot.com/ lately? Not only is it a very inspirational blog, but Lisa and Sarah have a great giveaway happening at the moment! Go check it out!

I have also been given this award...

by the very lovely Jenni . In accepting it, I have to tell you 7 things about me that you might not know. Here goes...

1. My favourite colour at the moment is apple green.

2. I love to create things with polka dots :)

3. I have a somewhat geriatric Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Clancy.

4. There is a frog that lives under my craft room window, and each night it croaks so loud that I can't stand to stay in my craft room...I am terrified of frogs!

5. I have started making gifts for Christmas...already!!!!! YAY!

6. I have put myself on a craft "budget" after unpacking box after box of craft materials when we moved house, and having no idea where I am going to put it all (guess I could always actually make something...what a novel idea LOL)

7. I feel blessed every single day...life is good!

Now I am supposed to pass this award on...the really hard part! How about if you feel like sharing 7 things, you accept the award :) and let me know so that I can learn a little more about you!

Have a happy day

What's going on.....

...at your place today?

It has been the strangest day weatherwise here in Perth. It was hot this morning, then it poured with rain, and now it's cold and rather chilly....how bizarre.

We are having a lazy Saturday :) We started the afternoon off with some cooking...

...complete with little helpers who only stuck around long enough to lick the beaters :) I did my usual marathon cooking thing...you know, where I keep cooking until I run out of something vital (today it was butter and custard powder LOL) and then popped these in the oven..

Blueberry muffins...yuuuum. I then realised how quiet it was (very unusual in our house) and went with my camera to investigate.

I found my husband knee deep in tadpole-infested waters...eeeeewwwwww....cleaning the water feature.

Miss M was quietly reading on the lounge.

Miss L had sneaked some pattycake pans and was creating an alien face :)

...and Master R had dug out a long forgotten electronic game and was playing quietly in his bedroom. So I disturbed their quiet activities with the call of "AFTERNOON TEA!!!!", and that was the end of that!
Hope you are having a lovely Saturday :)

Little Dancer

I've recently adopted a new system for sorting my printed photos (thanks to the lovely Tracey) and it is really paying off. Instead of spending valuable scrapping time searching for groups of photos (which I know I had printed, but can never find when I need them!) I'm actually putting pages together...YAY!

These photos are part of a series I took back in February...you may remember that I have scrapped a few of them already. Merryn has begged me each year to get up on stage when we've been to Lydia's dance concerts...just a little snippet that I wanted to record, which deserved a page all on it's own :)

I've used no patterned paper on this LO, just some cardstock and a couple of Basic Grey Lemonade Chip Stickers and some alphas...simplicity! I even dug into my MM Heidi rub-ons again...they would have to be my "all-time, most used" scrapping product...I've been using them for years, and am getting very low on "e"s!
And now a photo...just because I love it :)

Smiling faces make me happy :)

Hello hello :)

Not sure where these holidays have gone...we are midway through the second week already! Our little household has been blessed with a steady stream of visitors each day ...thank you my beautiful friends for coming to visit :) ...and days and days of perfect Spring weather. What more could you ask for?

Happy mail is always nice, and I received this beautiful piece of fabric just the other day...

...I have a sweet little project in mind, although it may have to wait until school goes back next week ;)

I scrapped a page this afternoon...

Digging deep into my photo box this time, and happy to be scrapping in pink again (I love using pink). These papers are My Minds Eye Breaking Free, and I've also used some MM tiny alphas and American Crafts thickers.

The ice cream embellishment is a "woolie" from the Lemonade collection by Basic Grey...very cute! The photo evokes so many memories for me, and would you look at my hair! LOL, it's been a while since my hair was that long :)
Have a great day

Number 20 (WOOOHOOOOOO!!!!)

And so my self challlenge comes to an end. It has taken much longer for me to complete than I anticipated, but now...it is done, and Riley's albums look much fuller than when I started :) which was my goal.

Layouts don't come much simpler than this....

Paper, words, photos and minimal embellishments....just the way I like it.

I've used paper from Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday, and the embellishments are from the Ready-Set-Chip chipboard sheet from their Snorkel Collection. The journaling is not quite finished, but I can't remember what beach we were at LOL (I'm hoping my husband can help me out with this when I chat to him tomorrow)
School holidays are half over already! I can't believe how quickly they have gone so far. Riley arrived home safe and sound from Adelaide, with a new determination to achieve, and looking quite a bit older than when he left :(
Another busy week coming up...hope you have a great one!
