I had a bit of a clean up in my craft room yesterday...isn't it amazing how fast things get in a mess? One thing led to another, and I found myself looking through storage boxes right at the very back...lots of treasures (and UFO's...gulp) hiding back there. Amongst the half finished cross stitch kits and tapestry wools and teddy bear kits, I found this little treasure which I thought you might like to see...
This is my very first attempt at stitching!
I was in Year 2 at school, and a lovely lady fondly called "Morgy" came in to teach our class to stitch. She was actually one of my good friend's nanny/housekeeper, and such a patient woman :)
Here is the full piece in all it's glory :) Love how I've started and finished with a big knot, right on the front of my fabric...yikes!
So this is where my love of embroidery began...in a classroom in Year 2. Do you still have your first piece of stitching? I'd love to see a pic ;)

That's so sweet! I actually love the colors and all the fun stitches. You were a great stitcher from day one!
I remember my first stitching project. We (girl scouts) each drew a picture and then stitched it on burlap. My picture was a girl (with two braids, like mine) riding a horse. I was into drawing that at the time. I wonder what ever happened to that stitchwork...

Jill
Wow! Knots or no knots, your stitches are still perfect! You're a natural! This tea towel is so cute, thanks for sharing.
Oh wow, that is a treasure!! My Mum has mine, I will have to take a pic when I am at her house next. It was a piece of checked material and we cross stitched a border aroung the edge. I know that was in primary school, but I don't remember exactly what year.
Ah memories...I think we all did one of these...thankyou for sharing yours!
I love this story and I love your first stitchery. Thanks for sharing

I remember stitchiing on this type of cloth! Isn't it fun how everything comes back into style after about 3p years? LOVE It!
Stop by my blog when you have a chance. I 'm having a little giveaway.
