Banana splits, wheelbarrows and tyre swings!

Wow, I seriously "dropped the ball" as far as my 39 squares project is concerned, didn't I? I won't make excuses....LOL...but here are some more squares for those of you who have been missing me (thanks Leisa...love you xxx)

I haven't clapped my hands with joy at the completion of a square for a while...but I did when I finished this one!

aaarggghhhh....too cute! (if I do say so myself hee hee). It's a banana split with strawberry swirl, choc chip and vanilla ice-cream, with a cherry on top! To make the variegated colours, I just used strands of different coloured threads, all in the same needle...so for the choc chip, I used two strands of light brown and one strand of dark brown, then threaded all 3 strands into the needle...easy variegated thread! The silver is meant to be a spoon..hee hee.

I love this block because it's about my hubby's flyin/flyout job...he works away a lot, and sometimes the weekends can draaaaaag when he's not with us. By Sunday afternoon, if the kids or I are going a little stir-crazy, we sometimes jump in the car and head to Fast Eddy's for a banana split! Afternoon tea on the sunny verandah, with a banana split (or a cuppa for me) usually cures us all of the "blahs"!
Speaking of my hubby...this one is for him...
...he is a mad gardener, and loves to potter around in the garden, growing flowers and pruning and mulching and such...it's his happy place!
I mentioned way back (when I stitched the House on the Hill) that I wanted to include a little tyre swing hanging from the tree, but the scale was just too small...so I gave it a square all to itself :)

We had a swing like this when Riley was little in our big fig tree...and we all loved it! Can you see the bluebird peeping at you from up in the branches?
This doesn't get me up to date...ooops....but I'll be trying to achieve that in the next few hours :) Amy...the girl who started this project...has actually completed hers. Check it out at http://www.39squares.blogspot.com/ ...it is divine!
Have a good one
TTFN xxx
P.S. I just realized that I have now done 28 squares...which means I should've shown you another progress shot! Next time?

I love those squares... all three since the snail! You've really outdone yourself with the banana split though! I'm going to miss seeing everyone's squares too, but I don't think this is the end of embroidery for me... I think I'll be doing more! ;)

Wow, these squares are just wonderful! I've so enjoyed your stitching during this project, you are immensly talented! I can't wait to see the finished sampler. I have two more squares left to tackle this weekend, then I'm done too!

I'm adding your blog to my reading list so I can keep up on all your craft endeavors. Have a great weekend!

Oh YUM! It looks like we should dig in and enjoy! I knew it was a spoon silly. :)
I remember the little house on the hill and the missing swing! I love how you made this one also! And yes I love the blue bird!
I also love your hubbies wheel barrow!
I was going to give my hubby hockey sticks (his request) and a puck but I did not think they would turn out so great in pink! lol.
Have a great weekend... mmm thinking of banana splits!

Hugs,
Mary

You have been on a roll - the banana split is amazing. Love how you have variegated the threads to suit the flavour!

I haven't stopped by in a few days, but I'm still looking out for your new squares. I thought I'd about caught up to you, but not quite! Love the banana split, I think that's my favorite. Looking forward to the final 2 squares, but will miss the updates when they're done.
